Fun in Provence
Our first few days near our future "home" in Provence have been incredible. Grace a Sophie Z. et sa famille, nous Avons profite un tres bon sejour (hey, I'll get better at this!) Thursday night was a lovely cocktail reception at the Zewe country villa to kick off her Dad's 80th birthday celebrations complete with white tented canopies and canapés to die for (see the camembert florets below).
The next day was even more spectacular! An 8:45 am tour bus boarding started Friday's events with a first stop at one of France's famed cave paintings. Not the paleolithic cave art, rather a modern art show in Le Baux de Provence featuring works by Picasso and others projected on to the walls of a great cavern etched in stone (Carrieres de Lumieres). Musical accompaniment made for a truly cool experience for the senses.
After this was an olive oil production tour and wine tasting at picturesque La Vallongue. A short bus ride later, we were picnicking beside a vineyard with professionally prepared picnic baskets - such fine attention to detail, thanks Sophie! Loot bags from the winery capped an already incredible day - thanks Sophie! And there was more! Back to the Zewe villa Saturday for a luncheon swim and barbecue complete with a synchro swim routine!
Thank you very much to the Walsh family for inviting us and making us feel so welcomed and part of the family. It was a sad goodbye as we left for the night to prepare to be off on our next adventure!
