Hi. Bonjour. Hola. Guten Tag.Namaste. Kumusta.

Welcome to our blog! We wish to chronicle our experiences in travel and share our adventures with you. Also by documenting our journeys in travel, style, and food, maybe it can be a resource for anyone who might want to explore the same experience. Hope you enjoy!

Le Meridien Ra

Le Meridien Ra

Based on first impressions, then Le Meriden Ra will, well, impress you! The cavernous, light filled foyer has a definite gallery feel being adorned with modern and surrealist works (including those of Salvador Dali). The only reservations you should have about coming here as a gay family are the ones you make for your stay. To say it's a very gay friendly resort is an understatement. Manager Martin made arrangements that not only made us feel welcomed but like rock stars! From welcome drinks greeted by several departmental staff, nightly room treats, and personally giving us hotel history (it used to be a sanitorium!) and area tour suggestions, we really felt quite well attended to. Added to this are great hotel features as follows:

  • Kids Club with great  staff, activities (clay, painting, water games, and scavenger hunts) and great hours! (10am - 1 pm & 3 pm - 7 pm daily). Be sure to reserve spots for your kids by calling or emailing the club
  • Roof top outdoor pool with cabana beds serviced by another of the hotel's restaurants
  • Free access to the amenities at Europe's largest spa such as Oxygen lounge, steam room, and spa pool
  • Half board food option allows kids 4 and under to eat free and 5+ half price at the beach side buffet restaurant
  • Free wine and vinegar tasting at a local winery - with activities for the kids
  • A great private beach with restaurant and bar service
  • Free 10 minute beach massage (make sure to sign up)
  • Easy access to boardwalk strip (Carrer/Avigunda de Sant Joan de Deu)- walk northeast for a quiet residential stroll or southwest for a livelier walk among the markets and restaurants
  • During our stay in the middle of August, the weather was beautiful
  • For larger groups, contact the hotel for their apartment/residences

When we first arrived at Le Meridien Ra's palatial entryway, Griffyn asked "Are we staying here for a year?" While we stayed only a fantastic 6 days, with all it has to offer, I'm certain it won't be our last stay. Click through the slide show below to see just why.
