Singapore: Crazy, Rich Experience
Singapore was a surprise. Its modern, near futuristic architecture had a definite wow factor and yet it manages to maintain a historic feel with its preserved colonial buildings too. It’s definitely a wonderful city with much to offer a travelling family such as ours - and it seems to be a very livable city.
The Gardens By The Bay light show is iconically Singaporean and evokes Avatar’s Pandora with its ethereal dancing glow. That said, there are loads of things to see and do here that aren’t necessarily unique to the city but fun nonetheless including: Night Safari, theme parks galore (Universal Studios, Wild Wild Wet, and Kiztopia), and various kid themed museums (ArtScience and Mint Museum of toys among others).
And once you’ve built up an appetite, wind your way to the infamous Hawker Chan who had held the distinction of serving the cheapest Michelin-rated fare. Our kids loved the soy sauce and chicken and we were lucky enough to have met the chef himself.
With bellies filled we walked it off by engaging in another activity that Singapore supports quite well - shopping! Raffles City was very conveniently attached to the Swissotel where we stayed - giving a spectacular view of the city too. Take a junk boat tour and take in the fabulous view and really appreciate its skyline.
It’s easy to sing Singapore’s praises, having so much to offer. It will definitely need subsequent visits as we’ve only touched the tip of the skyscraper in all the crazy, rich experiences it has to offer.
