Humble Beginnings - Our first time out
Travel with the whole family had humble beginnings. While travelling with "three under three" in tow seems daunting (and it was to some extent), I kinda miss the days when the younger ones were immobile, warm balls of flesh and could be placed in our lap or the airplane bassinet! From our home in downtown Toronto, a great destination was Florida - no time zone change and a fairly quick, direct flight at around 3 hours. And better yet, we got to stay at our friends' stately home with the Atlantic Ocean as part of their backyard. We were very positively received as a real life "Modern Family" and experienced no negativity - curious stares especially when a small crowd gathered to see how I would handle feeding a pair of fussy, hungry twins. Thank goodness for months of practice and developing ambidextrousness! I plopped one in each lap and plopped a bottle in each mouth like a pro. There was even some applause. I nodded my head politely trying not to have a smug "Ha, and you didn't think I could do it" look on my face! It worked out pretty well and we began to see that the kids were no longer prohibitive factors in travelling. From then on we'd go on...
